好動人的情愫呀，這是繼「綠袖子」（Greensleeves）之後，英格蘭最有名的民謠，這是一首古老的「謎歌」（Riddle Song），作於16-17世紀之間，作者不祥，與其他「謎歌」相同，男女之間的感情，故意利用一些很困難達到的要求，來考驗對方，其實是一種含蓄的愛的表現，就如同「你是否願意為我摘天上的星星」等話語一般。Scarborough是一個地名，
在英格蘭北部，Fair是一種植物或花卉的 市集或展示會。英文歌詞與中文譯詞如下：

因為這是一首「謎歌」，所以有許多不同的歌詞，但皆不離提出一些不容易達到的考題。這首歌還有一項很大的特色，就是其演唱的方式，應該說是合唱的方式，演唱者可以高、中、低音三部合唱，或者前後歌詞跟著唱，甚至有合聲者會領先主唱者唱前一句歌詞，變化多端，耐人尋味，這是聽這首歌時的最大享受。這首歌亦因為曾為電影「畢業生」之插曲，而聲名大噪，風靡全世界。
